It's always fun to see how long you can last on just your own production!
I've lasted 53 days with out buying any food during covid, but I had some pantry staples on hand to work with. The lack of sugar was still tough! The first thing you notice, and then the monotony next, once can only eat so much sweet potato and arugula hash. I'm working on sorghum syrup now for sugar based on that experiment. I do track most of my production so I've toyed with the idea of a 'starvation spreadsheet' where I can track outputs and stores to see how long I can make it. Hopefully one day the days to starvation number will go over 365 and then I can close the laptop and go outside forever.
Blue jay, Great to hear from another effort at liven large off the land. I made baklava from foraged walnuts and philo dough from my wheat and farm honey. Also cream puffs with an acorn chocolate pudding for filling. Not 100% but close. All the grain crops are happy and starvation seems miles away but there are hundreds of lbs. of acorns in the drying shed… in case.
